Background Picture of our metaphor presentation

This is no ledge city :)
This is actually a part from Plantae kingdom.
Its like KL in Malaysia!
No ledge city is actually floating land in Plantae Kingdom.
This is the God View City
I think the cute part of this picture is that I imagined the God View City produce their own clouds.
and there is a tower of lightning which means they can produce lightning as well.

This is the main street of No ledge City
the Modus(normal plants) and Ioditus(Elite group) often use this street.
This is also why the modus look up to Ioditus because they look stand out in the street.
This is the place where Ioditus spread knowledge to Modus.
But they spread the wrong knowledge.
But to Modus, they see it as a sacred place to become Ioditus.
This is the fountain of knowledge.
It can only be summoned when all the 5 eaus(pendant) are combined
Notice where is a little circle under the fountain.
That is some magic circle to summon the fountain.
This is the edge of No Ledge City.
This is the part when the Clouds did not come and help to cover the sun.
The sun is so hot that it started to dry up the edge of the city.

and lastly, I am proud to present our final product.
The 3D object for our metaphor.
The 5 Eaus used to summon the Fountain of Knowledge!

the end!

Storyline for our metaphor :)

Basic of the Story
Character: Plantomancer, Elite Group(Flowering Plant), Normal peasants(non-Flowering plant, dry and dull looking) radicals, Cloudies

Places: No ledge City, Cloudie Kingdom, Sun

Plot:
-Elite Group spread wrong knowledge(Grow ugly) -selfish ppl
-Peasants look up to them and wants to be like them (they thought if they follow what they teach, they can be like them) -Blindly following
-the more they follow the more normal they are.
-One day a group of non-flowering plants(radicals) wonder why and how the Elite Group can be so pretty. They Tried to find out and do research.
-Actually the Elite group can grow prettily because they got "the fountain of knowledge" which provides pure water, right knowledge.
-Only all the pendants combine together only they can summon the Fountain of knowledge.
-One day, one of the Elite group got an accident, then it drop the pendant.
-coincidentally, one of the Radicals(Plantomancer) pick up the pendant. then it turns into a pretty flower.
-other Elite group dint find out. so the Plantomancer gave this information to the radicals.
-radicals did more research.
-Somehow one day, they need to summon the fountain to do a ceremony.
-Plantomancer found out about the fountain of knowledge and let the radicals know.
-radicals do more research(in the archive or something), they found out that actually before their radical group, there is already another group before them that found out about the pendant. but they were banish from the No Ledge city. From that day onwards, the Elite Group cast a spell on the fountain to only appear when all the pendant combine together.(They are selfish, they want to keep the fountain for themselves, so they forbid other plants to know)
-In the mean time, Plantomancer is working hard to climb up the stairs to be the mayor.
-After that, once the Plantomancer become the head of the city. He cut off the elite group and start a new government and want to spread the right knowledge to every plant.
-The Elite group oppose the plantomancer. They hide the pendant so that the Plantomancer cannot find it.
-Without the pendants, the Plantomancer cant summon the fountain and cant spread any pure water and got no evidence to tell the peasants about this.
-the Elite group wants the Plantomancer to die. So they combine the pendant and call the sun to dry up plantomancer.

[here is a bit messy] [I dont really know how to gabung it.]
-the Plantomancer asked the clouds for help to cover off the sun.
-Plantomancer signed a special contract with the Clouds. In return of Cloud's protection, they will supply the pure water(from fountain of knowledge) to the clouds.(somehow the clouds need it)
         -or-
-the Sun is actually okay... but the sun is getting closer and closer. and it turns out to be a threat to No Ledge City already..

-the Elite group tell the Cloudies that the sun is not coming/ not strong this year. So they no need to come and cover the sun. (without letting plantomancer know about it.)
-so In that year, the No Ledge city is getting hotter and hotter month by month.
-Plantomancer felt strange, he went to the Cloudie Kingdom itself to find out the reason.(the Pendant can travel to cloudie kingdom and back)
-Plantomancer found out that Elite group told Cloudies that sun is not coming this year.
-Plantomancer realise that the Elite group are actually planning on revenge on him (or realize they are bad ppl)
-Plantomancer told cloudie the whole story. and asked cloudie for help.
-Plantomancer and Cloudie gabung together to fight back the Elite group.
-The cloudies Zap the Elite Group with thunder. and turn the Elite group into normal dull colour non-flowering peasant plants.
-then the Plantomancer asked cloudie help to spread the right knowledge.
-the Cloudies take the pure water, and rain it on the No Ledge City.
-Everyone turns into pretty flowers and got the right knowledge.
-Lastly, No Ledge City gabung with Cloudies to form a new and stronger kingdom.
:)!

this is just the storyline for our metaphor so that Mr Charles can understand our story!

CTS 001: Progress and accomplishment photos from Zuliana's compilation

Hey hey heey Song Da! Busy working on our
Eau pendants!
Rosey trying to curve the linings for our Eau pendants!
Wow boy oh boy was that one hell of a challenge! It was honestly a fun ride, though, having to stayback after classes for discussions and to finally conduct our presentation. Honestly it was very stressful when it came to the part of controlling my inner-thoughts, making sure my mind isn't bounded by our deadline.

Hoorah! Challenge One? Check!
Till then,

CTS 001: Post Mortem

Our presentation for our very first group challenge went well, and I'm glad our hard work - staying back until late at night to brainstorm, conceptualize, and discuss - paid off! Personally, I gained a lot of experience since I have never really done group work as heavy as this before.

Which brings me to to the topic of post-mortem. Here's a quick list of things that I learnt from this challenge:

- Know the objective. Ask yourself, "by the end of this meeting, what do we want to get done?". Only then we would know if a group session has been successful or not.
- Deadlines are important. Timeline. Planning out the framework. Don't leave things to chance. Push yourself and others to follow through with the task at hand.
- Delegating is key to avoid self-exhaustion. Don't try to be the hero and do all the work! Yes, even if you think you'd do a better job than your teammates. Make sure everyone contributes. When a team functions properly, everything will run more smoothly.
- Ideas and executions. Process and product. Both in each are important, one should know how to balance the two.
- The final presentation is also important and it wouldn't hurt to rehearse roughly what we're going to say.
- Be resourceful. Know where to get stuff and how to get stuff done. For example, we discovered several places to hold our brainstorming sessions!
- Dress for success. Mr. Charles appreciates "tribe uniforms"; if we put in that extra effort to dress a little bit differently. (Like today where we wore red in our wardrobes, in honour of the Plantomancer's struggles and sacrifices!)
- Idea generation process. Brainstorming, and developing ideas. Knowing when to stop brainstorming and start developing ideas, keeping the timeline/deadline in mind.
- Learning not to be feature-creeps and do Rapid Iterative Prototyping (R.I.P; meaning going through something roughly, and going back on it again and again, refining it along the way). Getting too stuck on details will waste time! Always keep the big picture in mind.
- Clarity. Making sure the concept/idea (served fresh!) gets through to the end user (in this case, the audience and lecturer). Don't make things too wordy. Presentations a la Steve Jobs; clear and concise, yet sleek and minimal.
- Documentation. Proof of discussion. All our hard work would be pointless if it's not recorded! Perhaps delegating to a person to record while the rest discusses, taking turns, etc.
- Consistency in updating of blog/follow ups/tutorial sessions. (Also a form of proof of work!).

I suppose a lot of these challenges are a simulation of real work life; working in a team, juggling deadlines, etc. All in all good experience. Hopefully with each challenge, we, the members of SUSHI, will learn and refine our raw talents even more; continuing our journey as young designers in training!

Sayonara for now.

CTS 001: "The Plantomancer" Concept Art

Hello there!

From the "new reality" that we synthesized based on what we understood from Foundation by Isaac Asimov, we came up with a story titled "The Plantomancer". That's all you're getting for now, the rest will be revealed in our presentation tomorrow morning! But in the meantime, here are some drawings I did to contribute to the story. Since the Foundation series was written in the 50s, I took that as inspiration to emulate in an illustration style of that era, specifically from the animation studio UPA.

Examples of UPA's style:

And here are the drawings I did:

(Keyword, tried to emulate. Haha.)

That's all for now! Fingers crossed for our presentation tomorrow!
